From there, you can take a shuttle or taxi to San Pedro La Laguna. Alternatively, you can take a bus or shuttle from other major cities in Guatemala, such as Antigua or Quetzaltenango. There is also the option to take a “lancha” or public boat from Panajachel, the “gateway to Atitlán”, which is a common option.

Once you have decided on your mode of transportation, the next step is to book your travel arrangements. If you are traveling by shuttle or bus, you can book your tickets online through a travel agency or bus company website. If you are traveling by private car, you can arrange for a driver to take you directly to San Pedro La Laguna. You can book a private car through a travel agency, car rental company, or through the school for 900Q.

If you´re looking for a more authentic adventure and want to take a chicken bus to feel the adrenaline and have a local experience, we recommend that once you´re in Guatemala Airport, then take an uber or taxi to “41 calle Zona 8”. There you will find the majority of buses heading west, but you can also find direct options to San Pedro every hour from 11am to 4:30pm except for on Sunday when it leaves at 3pm. Expect to pay around 60Q.
